The floor of Flathead Valley in Northwest Montana can sometimes go weeks without feeling the benefit of the sun much, if at all. When the heavy blanket of clouds gives way, it gets cold, as it did the night before I took this series of photos. Sometimes, especially when the calendar makes winter official, it stays cold all day. Today was a beautiful exception. I had 1 degree F (feels like temperature -3) when I was out at 5 AM. By around 2:30 pm when I took this photo it was 19 degrees. Not quite shirt sleeves, but better.

I captured this view from the top of the overpass on Northfork Road in Columbia Falls.

standing on an overpass looking North by Northwest you can see forever.
